I highly recommend KM as your first nation if you're new.
If you're looking for a BB line then I suggest the Bismarck route as your first one, but you can also do another BO to the O project but they both lead to the h39 regardless.
Pros of KM =
Best Range
2nd Best Fighters (USN has best Fighters but depends on how many vets u have on fighters and also if its a rolled sailor or Elite / Super Elite / Hero / NFX)
Best AA
One of the best SS Lines (SS torps use proximity and detonate near targets so they make good Sub hunters)
Cons of KM =
Poor Armor (paper basically)
Poor repair ability (You need a good crew of atleast 3+ SE to be able to compensate for the ability rate)
Poor damage guns (poor alpha but thats the con for having Best range)
Overall the KM is a good and fun nation for all players and tbh id suggest it for anyone who is new or old and wants to play a nation which has multiple good ships and that are easy to learn the foundations of each ship type in.

The disadvantages of MN navy
1) The shortest range
2) Not bad but it is difficult to be expert of AA guns ( MN navy's AA gun has long range but poor rapid & damage. So, you need to be highly skilled )
Well, these disadvantages are not important because every veteran periods are destroyed by MN 6BB charle. she is famous for OP ship
If you want to play as aggressive style, I recommend MN navy
